Alfred Collins is listed among San Francisco's defensive starters in the official game book for the August 20, 2026 preseason game at the Los Angeles Chargers. The take is CORRECT if the game book's defensive starting lineup contains his name. San Francisco's cut to the initial roster, first through named reporters and then through the club's own release at 3:50 p.m. Pacific. Robert Jones released at 1:35 p.m. and Jarrett Patterson acquired from Houston seven minutes later. Mykel Williams to reserve/PUP and out at least four games. Christian Kirk to injured reserve with a designation to return. Brett Toth and Nick Zakelj to season-ending injured reserve. Deion Jones released five days after the 49ers traded Zamir White for him. Jalen Stroman waived three days after playing every defensive snap in Las Vegas. Thirty-nine moves, fifty-two men, and no punter or long snapper on the list.
Activating George Kittle Ended The 49ers' Four-Game Option On Him
San Francisco announced Sunday morning that it had activated George Kittle from the Active/Physically Unable to Perform list, and the club's own roster page now lists only Isaac Guerendo and Mykel Williams there. Under the league's rule a player removed from active PUP cannot be put back on it, so the reserve/PUP designation that would have cost Kittle the Rams, Miami, Arizona and Denver is gone. He counts against the 53 on August 30. Matt Maiocco reported he was expected in individual drills the same day, with team periods unknown.
A Third-Round Rookie Has The First-Team Edge Reps Opposite Keion White
Romello Height has been working with the first-string defense opposite Keion White while Mykel Williams sits on PUP and Nick Bosa is held back. Height was drafted in the third round to replace a pass rusher who retired in March. White arrived from New England nine months ago for a reported sixth-round pick. Between them they have taken every first-team edge rep of this camp, and neither was supposed to.
