Upton Stout is back at practice in a no-contact jersey
The rookie corner was limited Thursday, four days after hurting his shoulder against Denver. Mike Evans did not practice, Mykel Williams \"should be good to go,\" and John Lynch said Kyle Juszczyk's knee \"had ACL written all over it.\"

Upton Stout was back on the practice field Thursday in a blue no-contact jersey, Nick Wagoner of ESPN reported, and the club's report listed him as limited. The rookie corner hurt his shoulder against Denver on Sunday and did not practice Wednesday. "There's potential," Kyle Shanahan said on the radio Thursday of Stout playing Sunday. "We're not sure yet," per David Bonilla of 49ers Webzone.
- Evans went backward on paper. Mike Evans (ribs) was limited Wednesday and did not practice Thursday, per the club's report. Matt Barrows of The Athletic had him running "full speed on a side field," and Wagoner also had him on the side. Evans played through the ribs against Denver with five catches for 76 yards, and Bonilla reports he is expected to play Sunday.
- Williams. Mykel Williams (knee) was limited both days and is still on the physically unable to perform list. "So, should be good to go for Sunday," Shanahan said, per Bonilla. The 53 was still full on Thursday's roster page, so activating him takes a corresponding move. The deadline to activate him is Oct. 21.
- Bosa. Nick Bosa did not practice either day and is not expected to play Sunday. The report lists him with knee and calf. "I don't think he's far from playing," Shanahan said, and he wants Bosa back before the bye.
- Thursday's report. Five did not practice: Bosa, Evans, Kyle Juszczyk, Marques Sigle and James Thompson Jr. Stout and Williams were limited. Dre Greenlaw, Christian McCaffrey and Trent Williams, who all sat Wednesday on rest days, were full. So were Kaelon Black, back from an illness, Jaden Dugger (shoulder) and Romello Height (hand).
- Juszczyk. "That, to me, to my eye, had ACL written all over it," John Lynch said on KNBR on Thursday morning, per Bonilla. A Monday MRI confirmed the ligament was intact; Bonilla reports a hyperextended knee and a bone bruise. ESPN's Monday report had him out two to three weeks.
- Who replaces him. Lynch named Brayden Willis and Luke Farrell, along with George Kittle. Jake Tonges, the usual stand-in, is on injured reserve. "We'll find a way, but Juice is a significant loss, to say the least," Lynch said.
- Evans in Denver. Lynch said the medical staff told him not to count on Evans for the Broncos game. He went to tell Evans the club would have him for Seattle. "He's like, 'No, I'm playing this week,'" Lynch said.
- The trade market. "I think you're always in active mode," Lynch said when asked about the deadline. He added that players coming back from injury can count as additions.
- Pettis is gone. The 49ers reached an injury settlement with receiver Dante Pettis, per the NFL's transaction report, days after putting him on practice squad injured reserve. He is off the roster.
- Seattle's Thursday report. Defensive end Leonard Williams (ankle) was limited Wednesday and did not practice Thursday. Jaxon Smith-Njigba was full after a rest day, and linebacker Chazz Surratt (calf) went from no practice to full. Running back Zach Charbonnet (knee) was limited both days.
- No sacks yet. Brock Purdy has not been sacked in four games, per ESPN's team statistics. Shanahan credited instinct on Wednesday: "It's hard to be a good quarterback if anytime something flashes, you just run," he said, per Bonilla.
Friday's report carries the game statuses. Kickoff Sunday is 1:25 p.m. Pacific on FOX.
