Eric Pohlkamp scored San Jose's first preseason goal at Anaheim on September 20, five on five from Ethan Cardwell, at 1:37 of the first period. San Jose lost 6-2; Pohlkamp rises from fourth to third among thirty prospects.
Anaheim dressed Carlsson, Gauthier, Granlund and Killorn; San Jose lacked Celebrini, Smith and Toffoli. That is a real Anaheim lineup, which is the argument for the goal. Two things argue against making more of it than one rank:
- Pohlkamp is 22, with a professional career before Sunday consisting of one AHL playoff game.
- Ryan Lin falls from third to fourth without playing. College Hockey News' September schedule offered no NCAA Division I games in which he could answer.
Now give repeated assignments more weight than an exhibition goal. Axel Landen rises from 30th to 29th, displacing Nate Misskey to 30th, after Saturday's first point of his Liiga season. The Finnish league's own game files put Landen on the first pair in all six of TPS's six games.
