One correction up front: Luis Hernandez exists, has been existing, and is hitting .347 in the Arizona Complex League while we were polite to a calendar. The $5M January signee debuted in early May, ran a 1.231 OPS this past week (including a 5 for 5 day with a homer and three doubles), and was sitting at #11 with the cheerful note Season Has Not Started. The note was wrong. He moves to #5 with proper apologies and a 1.125 season OPS at age 17.

Around him: the top of the order napped and the deep cuts ran the table. Bryce Eldridge and Jesus Rodriguez kept learning what major league pitching looks like (combined 2 for 23 with six strikeouts at the MLB level), Jhonny Level had his first cold week of the season, and Keyner Martinez gave up five earned runs in three innings (and slides out of the Top 10). Parks Harber hit four home runs in six Double-A games, Aeverson Arteaga got promoted to AAA and immediately hit .353, Lorenzo Meola homered three times in five games at San Jose, and Josuar Gonzalez ran a 1.583 OPS in the ACL because he is 18 and has not yet been told he should be scared of anything.

On the pitching side, Joe Whitman threw another five inning, zero run, zero walk shutout at Double-A and is now sitting on a 1.02 WHIP through eight starts. Trevor McDonald turned in 6.2 innings of one earned run baseball in San Francisco. Carson Whisenhunt logged 6.1 innings of one earned run at AAA and is calmly the next call up. Argenis Cayama bounced back from last week's two thirds of an inning meltdown with a four inning ten strikeout effort, which is the kind of thing you write down before deciding what to think about it.

Reshuffles this week: Luis Hernandez #11 to #5 (Bo Davidson, Drew Gilbert, Dakota Jordan, Jesus Rodriguez, Luis De La Torre each slide one spot, Keyner Martinez out of the Top 10 to #11). Parks Harber #19 to #17 on the four homer week (Whitman 17 to 18, Cohen 18 to 19). Aeverson Arteaga #44 to #34 after the AAA promotion. The rest of the Top 10 holds.

Two weeks into the MLB cameo and the curriculum is unforgiving. Four games, two hits, zero homers, one walk, five strikeouts. The AAA line is doing all of the heavy lifting on the season slash. He is 21 and learning live. Nobody is panicking, and you should not either, but the .343 L7 OPS means the headline rating earns its color.

Four games, eight hits, three doubles, a homer, five walks, two steals, one 1.583 OPS. Eighteen years old, hitting .414 with a 22 percent walk rate in the ACL. This is the part of the season where you remind yourself to recalibrate expectations and then immediately fail to do so.

First cold week of the season looks like this: five games, four hits, no walks, four strikeouts. The .911 season OPS at 18 in Single-A is still doing the talking. If anything, the absence of walks is the data point to file away. He will be fine; the strikeout rate is still 17 percent and the bat speed has not changed since Sunday.

After last week's 1.600 OPS revenge tour the universe billed Kilen for the regular price: a calm .278 with four walks, two doubles, two strikeouts. .867 season OPS, sub 18 percent K rate, the boring profile you want from your top middle infield prospect.

A correction we owe the reader: Hernandez has been in the ACL since the first week of May, and we had him as Season Has Not Started. He is 17 years old, in his first month of professional baseball, hitting .347 with a .714 slugging percentage and a 5-for-5, three doubles, one homer, nine RBI Wednesday. The $5M signing bonus is starting to look like a discount. He jumps from #11 to #5 with a polite apology attached and the understanding that he could move again next week.

Richmond played two games this week, both of which Davidson played in, and he hit three doubles. The 1.000 OPS is real and the season slash is still flirting with comfortable. He drops a slot because the kid above him exists, not because he did anything wrong. Whether the lull is a schedule quirk or a quad tweak the box scores do not say.

Three hits in six games, one of which was a triple, six strikeouts, one walk. The fourth outfielder profile is solidifying around him like cement. Still no power surge to speak of in the majors and the AAA option is starting to look like a math problem. If the Giants need a roster spot, the calculus changes quickly.

Five games, seven hits, two stolen bases, six punchouts, only one walk. Empty average week. The strikeout to walk ratio in the L7 is the worrying part for a player whose ticket up to AA is going to depend on the discipline holding. Season profile still attractive.

Three games, nine at bats, zero hits, one strikeout. We promoted him in April when his AAA line was .330 with a 90 percent contact rate and looked smart for it. He came back to earth this week the way every catcher does eventually: 0 for 9 with a quiet pop out in the seventh that the broadcast team called a barreled ball.

One start, 4.2 innings, one earned run, two hits, seven strikeouts, four walks. The walk rate is still the daily reminder that the slider does not always cooperate. The K rate keeps showing up. Season ERA finally trending the right direction.

Parks Harber made the case to be reconsidered. Four home runs and a double in six Double-A games is a stat line that gets you a spreadsheet column of your own and a polite call from the player development staff. Joe Whitman threw another scoreless start (five innings, no walks, five strikeouts) and is now at 48 strikeouts in 38.1 innings with a 1.02 WHIP. Trevor McDonald turned in 6.2 innings of one run ball at the major league level. Three Top 20 names threw or hit shutouts in the same week. We have not earned this. Cam Maldonado cooled noticeably (.604 OPS, 7 punchouts), and Yunior Marte gave up another five run rough patch.

Aeverson Arteaga got promoted to AAA and immediately hit .353 in his first four games, which is one of those moments where the team rewards you for asking last week's polite question. He jumps from #44 to #34. Lorenzo Meola hit three home runs in five Single-A games (1.282 OPS, briefly the loudest bat in the deep cuts). Lisbel Diaz joined the party with a 1.035 OPS and a homer. Jose Astudillo is still hitting .357 in San Jose with a 17.5 percent strikeout rate and we keep waiting for the regression that does not arrive. Robert Hipwell got two hits in six at bats. He is still walking; he is also still hitting .114.

No new injuries this week. The list is short, grim, and unchanged. Bo Davidson played only two games at AA, which is worth keeping an eye on but is not yet a hospital appointment.

The DSL season starts in four weeks. Until then we are at the mercy of small samples, midweek roster moves, and Parks Harber, who at this rate will hit eight more homers by the time we mail the next one of these. See you next Tuesday.
