Sharks · Prospect Board

September 29 to October 5, 2026

The first week that counted. The defenseman at No. 6 won opening night in overtime and played second-pair minutes; the No. 1 prospect has one point and one shot in three NHL games. All thirty held.

How to read this board. The window is the seven completed days from Tuesday September 29 through Monday October 5. Last week's board ended on September 28, so the two abut with no gap and no double count. Membership is Calder eligibility and nothing else: no more than 25 NHL games in any single prior season, not 6 or more in each of any two prior seasons, and under 26. All thirty were re-checked against the league's own player records this morning and all thirty hold. Season to date means 2026-27 games that count. The NHL opened October 1, the AHL October 3 and the NCAA October 2, so for most rows the season and the window are the same games. Exhibitions are named and not counted.
Three labels mean what they say. HAND-PULLED means a person read the line off a named page rather than a feed returning it: every college row, from College Hockey News' box score for each game and its daily schedule, with the destination from the school's own 2026-27 roster. NOT ESTABLISHED against a club means no source this desk can read puts the player on a roster this season. It does not mean he is unattached. Where a row says window not read or source not read, that league could not be opened at the game level this week, and that is never evidence that a prospect did not play. Two Russian rows now carry a season line from the NHL's own player record, which lists games in every league; neither league's site gave a game-by-game line.
Prospect of the week
Luca Cagnoni, defenseman, sixth on this board. He scored the overtime winner on opening night, three on three at 3:14 against Florida, and set up Will Smith's power-play goal in the same game. He played 21:17 that night and 21:21 against Los Angeles, second of San Jose's six defensemen both times, and 19:01 at Dallas, fourth of six. That is 3 GP, 1 G, 1 A, 2 P, six shots and 20:33 a game, all of it in the NHL. Runner-up: Filip Bystedt, two goals and an assist in the Barracuda's overtime win on October 4.

What moved, and what did not
Nothing moved. Thirty rows held, for the fourth week running, and this is the first week with real games in it. Cagnoni is the strongest case for a move: three NHL games, second of six San Jose defensemen in minutes twice and fourth once. The man directly above him, Quentin Musty, is injured, and an injury is not a performance, so a swap would be a claim about Cagnoni and not about Musty. Ryan Lin scored on the power play and led Denver's defense in minutes on October 3, at 18, which holds him at No. 4. Bystedt had three points in one game and none in the other. Ivar Stenberg has one assist and one shot in 42:57, and three NHL games is not a reason to move the No. 1 prospect in either direction. Two games is a sample. The board waits for a month of them.
Where the roster went
San Jose's published NHL roster has 25 names, and two of this board's thirty are on it: Stenberg and Cagnoni. Seven are on the Barracuda's 2026-27 roster and all seven played both games: Pohlkamp, Bystedt, Sahlin Wallenius, Wetsch, Gasseau and Havelid, and Ethan Cardwell, who is not eligible for this board. Leo Sahlin Wallenius was marked not established last week. He is a Barracuda defenseman, on the roster and in both box scores. Musty and Lund are on neither roster and are listed non-roster injured. Thirteen are in college. Six of the thirteen played games that count, at five schools; four played only exhibitions; three did not play.
Who is not on this board, and why
Ethan Cardwell is off: six NHL games in 2024-25 and seven in 2025-26 is six or more in each of two prior seasons. He has a goal and two assists for the Barracuda this week. Igor Chernyshov is off at 28 NHL games in 2025-26, past the 25-game limit, and he is on San Jose's roster now. Michael Misa is off at 45. Just outside: David Klee (Notre Dame), Michael Fisher (Cornell), Eli Barnett and Yegor Spiridonov.
Compiled from
Machine-compiled: the league's own player records for all thirty eligibility checks, ages and 2025-26 lines; the league's schedule, box scores and play-by-play for San Jose's games on October 1, 3 and 5; the league's published San Jose roster this morning; the AHL feed for the Barracuda's 2026-27 roster and both game summaries; the OHL and WHL feeds for Saginaw, North Bay and Portland, every game summary in the window; the Finnish league's own game files for TPS. Hand-pulled, and named: every college line, from College Hockey News' box score for each game and its daily schedule for each of the seven days, which also marks the exhibitions. Read off the NHL's player record, not the league: the season lines for Magomedsultanov (MHL) and Rimashevskiy (KHL). Not read at the game level: the MHL (403), the KHL (its pages load without player data), the VHL and the SHL. Photographs: the league's own 2026-27 player images for the fifteen prospects it holds one of; the other fifteen carry initials.
