A Kalshi contract pays $1 if it happens, so its price is the implied probability directly: 4 cents is a 4 percent chance. The headline figure is the midpoint of the live bid and ask, which is a price someone will actually trade at right now, not a last trade that may be days old.
Prices across a field sum to more than 100 percent, because that gap is the market's margin. Where exactly one entrant can win, the vig-adjusted number divides that margin out.
